ULtra X3 Dies too soon - Page 2

Thank you for chiming in on this Phaedrus...I was about to go postal.

The X3's are the only Ultra worth owning.

I'm curious as to how the OP got a replacement. I didn't think they were making the X3's anymore

It's good to know, just in case mine decides to take a dump. It's been running strong for over 3 years and it still performs like the day I got it.

It will be put under the most stress it's ever seen this week. I've got an HD5870 that will be here tomorrow and with my CPU current OCed to 4.7 @ 1.32v, I'm a litttle worried that this PSU won't be able to hang with an HD5870 OCed to any extent......need your opinion Phaedrus, what do you think?

I used to have the X3 1050W. Was pretty great -- looked badass, performed well, modular. I RMA'd it and got sent an X4, so I sold and it moved to Corsair.

No regrets, but the X3 was pretty darn good back in the day. I RMA'd it because the fan's thermal sensor was just F'd, as in it would stay on full ALL the time.

Thank you sir...that's what I wanted to hear. I just wasn't sure. As stated previously...this is the most load that this PSU has ever seen.

I just hope my electricity bill don't go up too much, it's already hovering around $475/month!

Thread Starter
Ultra actually replaces the unit in 24-48 hours IF you can cover the cost of a new one till you send the faulty unit back... It took one day to get to my house.(im centrally located in TN so that could be reaosn for the fast delivery) I sent the bad unit back and in literally 1 week had all money replaced in my account. The ultra units might not be the best but with a company that replaces in a day you cant really complain.

Yes, Ultra has surprisingly good customer service. That's always a good thing generally speaking, but it's a particularly good thing when the company sells products that often require replacement. I prefer to avoid Ultra altogether but if you're already "roped in" then, well... who knows, you may have to call Ultra enough to meet your future spouse.

Yea, they do have a good RMA process. I had an x2 500w that they replaced with an x3 600w modular.
