looking for something in the $600-700 ballpark or even cheaper.
basically use my computer for nothing but gaming. mostly wow, cod black ops, crysis, and the occasional sims 3.

can anyone tell me if this would be a decent setup? and what performance i would expect to get from it. i already have plenty of hard drives laying around and plenty of dvd drives. thanks.

Going the AMD route will yield cheaper build that is for sure . My friend has that same CPU on stock cooler and it treats him very well in WoW.

I would go with the Corsair TX750W instead of the Thermaltake Toughpower. You should look into spending like $50 more dollars also and get yourself a Radeon 6870 or a Geforce GTX 460 Twin Frozr.

Heres the corsair psu...

Edit: the Thermaltake psu is a tiny bit better, you can go either way but I probably would go with the Corsair because they are a better known company customer service wise.

For gaming, I would rather go for a better Video card than that, here's what I would do:

Phenom II X4 + Biostar 870

Asus 2GB 6950 + Corsair HX650

Lian Li + 4GB DDR3

i like that one you gave me powertrip. looks pretty good.

the computer im running now runs wow pretty good but i get some bad lag when i raid and sometimes in 5mans.

its a pentium 4 (socket 478) at 3ghz with 4gigs of ram.
but its an older mobo so im still running agp
with a 512mb graphics card.

i figure might as well build a decent computer.
unless i can find some decent upgrades.
