Overclocking Q6600 G0 on Asus Striker Extreme

Hello,

I am new to overclocking and having trouble overclocking Q6600 G0 on Asus Striker Extreme, I was wondering if anybody has this mobo and processor and what settings are you using? and BIOS version.

I have got 2002 bios, I tried over clocking to 3.6GHz (1.6v), but my pc kept freezing, I tried 1.7v and was working fine but that is too much.

Problem is I have GTX260(2) SLI and it bottlenecks if processor is 2.4GHz. If you could give me stable settings and which BIOS version to use that would be awsome.

I would upgrade but havn't got much money frown.gif

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it smile.gif

Not every Q6600 G0 can make it to 3.6GHz on air. Most of them top out at 3.4 - 3.5GHz. It's obvious it is your CPU stopping you since it helped going to 1.7v V-core..

So I believe you must settle for 3.4 - 3.5GHz.

Okay, I don't mind the speed as long as it's 3Ghz+ I just don't want it 1.7v. I want it stable at 1.6v or less.

Most GO Q6600's will do 3.4 @ around 1.4v, If you will fill in your system specs under the quick links tab (top left) it will help everyone to help you as You may have other limiting factor in your Rig.

Also what is the VID: this is the stock volts and can be found with a free program called Coretemp.

I'll check the VID tomorrow, I have no CPU fan at the moment, waiting for water cooling and will be delivered tomorrow.

This will help alot, How much ram are you running? as this will also effect the overclock, have you changed any other settings? All the following may or will need to be tweaked for a stable OC.
