Question about Multiple Cores

Thread Starter
I'll try to keep this short.

My question is about Multi-Core performance when Multi-tasking. Some people argue that having more than 4 cores is pointless because there isn't that much out there that uses more than 4 cores.

Wouldn't it come in handy when you are doing many things at once?

This morning I noticed a lot of lag on my PC while trying to play BattleField heroes while folding SMP-2 + GPU3 v7 and also was copying over the 1.8 GB BF3 trailer to my Droid X.

Would having something like an i7 970/X6 1055T six core CPU (or better) relieve the lag I experienced?

Yes having a hex core will defo help, those extra 2 cores= better performance for multi-tasking, my i3 with its 4core's can happly run 4 programme's at once but the min I add 5 its slows the others down but my mates i7 980x hex runs like a trooper with 8+ programmes running and prime95ing

Thanks. I'll start saving up for 8 core bulldozer or ivy bridge. Don't let anyone tell you more than 4 cores is useless if you are a multi tasker.
