Monitor not responding after I install Nvidia drivers

Anyone know why or a fix to my problem? I'm installing the proper Nvidia driver for my GTS 450 and once I boot up in windows, the monitor goes blank randomly and I can't do anything. I tested this on two monitors and two different drivers. I also reformatted but it doesn't seem to help.

If a reformat doesn't help, make sure you check the power cables to the GPU and make sure it's seated in the motherboard properly.

Can you boot into safe mode? Once inside safe mode, clean install the drivers.

I rechecked the power cable but maybe I should check the PCIe slot. This is in my mini ITX build so it's really hard to see things.

Yeah I did this. I actually installed the drivers in normal mode without any GPU drivers. It's just after I need to restart and the drivers actually take affect, then it goes back to blank screen

Does seem weird, older drivers working?

Older driver doesnt work. What I forgot to mention was that it was working fine until I disassembled it to change the CPU cooler. This required me to take almost everything out (Mobo, GPU, HDD, PSU) Could I have shorten the GPU?

Is all the clocks set at 'stock', cpu, gpu, etc? If not, that's the next thing you should try for sure.

Also, when you re-installed windows, did you let Windows auto-update do it's thing and install drivers for your card automatically, or did you bypass this process?

Yup all my clocks are set at stock since I have a H67 and my GPU should be stock since I reformatted.

I didn't let windows auto-upgrade my GPU. I saw the update but I usually prefer doing it manual from the nvidia website.

Maybe an RMA is in order then. Do you have another Nvidia GPU to test to make sure it's the GPU itself acting up and not software related?

Yeah. I can try my 560. I can also test my 450 inside my other rig. I guess I have to try and isolate the problem. I just wish this is a software issue.
