My average FPS?

Thread Starter
What should my average FPS be for games like Crysis, Crysis 2, BF:BC2, and other high end games? In all honesty I don't think I'm getting the frames I should be on games like this at my resolution.

My settings are always maxed out without AA @ 1680X1050. On Crysis 1 I am using CCC config @ 1680X1050 with no MSAA IIRC. Crysis 2 of course is @ 1680 X 1050 on extreme settings.

My frame rate for each game :
BF:BC2 is 50-60 FPS in 1080 (that's fine.)
Crysis 1 : minimum 19, Maximum 65, Average 42.755
Crysis 2 : 29 - 60 FPS usually around 34 - 45

So what should my framerate be for the high end games such as these? Basically games like Crysis, Crysis 2, Just Cause 2, so on and so forth.

To clarify I'm not looking for a solid 60FPS 24/7 at these resolutions because I know my card and system is not capable of that. I just want to be able to run any game I want @ 30 FPS minimum solid at 1680X1050. Of course except for Crysis 1. But basically I just want to run games without dipping below 30 - 35 FPS. Anything better is awesome, but not required.

Also do I have any bottlenecks on my system? Of course besides my HDD which I did not include because that's pretty obvious. But with the hardware I have provided do I have any bottlenecks?

My setup :
AMD Phenom II x2 555 Callisto @3.2GHZ (unlocked to triple core, 3.8GHZ)

Motherboard : ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO

Ram : G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ (factory OC 9-9-9-24 IIRC) with 1.5V

GFX Card : EVGA Geforce GTX 460 SE @ 830/1660/1800
I've also used these following OC settings :
850/1700/2000 and 865/1730/1900

The higher OC's are running core voltage @ 1.062(1062 in MSI)

OS : Windows 7 Pro X64

Those are pretty decent for your setup!

I would say you selected good matched components for your rig.

Yea but it Crysis 2 for instance dips below 30 FPS a good few times. I hate any game dipping below 30 FPS. Heck Crysis 1 does as well but that's to be expected.

Is there any bottlenecks in my system?

Also I'll run 3Dmark 06 or 09 here in a few to show my performance. I was also wondering if I decided to upgrade, what should I upgrade first? What would you guys advise me to get?

i think a quad core would be a very good addition to your system

Also go into the User CP and click "add system" and type in your specs there so we can all see!

Nah I doubt it - you might benefit slightly from a better cpu, but you probably just need a better gpu, or another 460.

The problem is I just bought this GPU one or two months ago. I couldn't afford an extremely high end one, and than the new 560 TI came out like 2 weeks after I bought this. So I have no idea if I can sell this one and get the 560 or if I'm SOL.

Also this is an AMD system I can't do SLI. I'd have to go ATI which I don't wanna do. I have had bad experiences with ATI in the past and I just don't trust them.

Will do.

So is the framerate on par with my specs?

Also I gotta replace my GTX 460 SE because my buddy spilled about 4 tablespoons of Tea on my system, which landed right on the mobo and GFX card. It works but the performance is HORRIBLE. (I did clean up everything on it, and let it dry.) So I can't give you guys more accurate benchmarks for a good 4 days to a week unfortunately.

So besides Crysis 1 these FPS values are from memory, until I get this card replaced. I do know Crysis 1 still runs well though.

EDIT: I'll try running 3dmark today but I have no idea if it's gonna go well. Crysis 2 is really effected by that spill. Crysis 1 works fine, haven't tried any other games. But for some reason Crysis 2 is really finacky for a lot of things. OC settings can mess with Crysis 2, and this incident has aswell.

So than yes and no. Depends on the game. I wonder how much hardware I'm gonna have to go through before I can max every game out currently on the market for the next year or two @ 1680 X 1050? I need a cheaper hobby. Especially since I'm unemployed...... :S

Right I guess I'll update this topic again when I get my card back. When that happens should I open a new topic or am I aloud to resurrect this one since I'm the thread owner?

Correct answer is at least your monitors refresh rate.

Every thing looks normal. When battle field bad comp 2 came out and GTA 4 they ran horribly because they had not been patched and because new drivers had not came out that optimized the games. Crysis 2 is a new game, expect patches and newer driver witch boost performance.

An upgrade?? Well you all ready have a tri core CPU at 3.8ghz witch is plenty. You have fast ram. The only thing you could upgrade is your GPU. You could go SLI if your power supply and mobo can handle it. If not i would suggest, selling that card or if you can RETURN IT SO YOU CAN GET THE FULL AMOUNT BACK. and get something better.

I know DX11 is cool but really its a rip off. You can buy a used GTX 295 for $180. Witch will run any game above 40FPS with all on high including AA. I dont understand why people waist their money just because something new came out. Its a scam. The cards are more expensive, their are cheaper cards that can out perform the newer more expensive cards.
