OC Advice for new 2500k

Thread Starter
Just finished purchasing my new system. (2500k asus deluxe 2x4gb ribjaw x).

Was wondering if there was an OC guide or any tips anyone could give me. (Max voltage / temps for 24/7 use) / (What should I expect in terms of max OC) / (Ect.)

I wouldn't go any higher than 1.45V for your VCore and for temperatures, I wouldn't go more than 70-75C under load. Expect an OC anywhere from 4.2-5.0Ghz.

Here is a very good Sandy Bridge OC guide. It should have everything you need.

Instead of starting a new thread just going to follow up on this with a few questions.

will occt v3.1.0 Linpack push the temps to the max?

When using it my temps got up to 67C with 1.36V (My core voltage jumps around in cpu-z from 1.352 to 1.36 is that normal?)

My ambients at the time was between 76-78F

(Basically my question is, are my temps to high?)

Thanks.

Temp is ok, prime seems to be the best test for sandy bridge.

Currently I am 1.376V(Core voltage keeps bouncing between that and 1.36) and with LinX and the new linpack my temps are maxing at 80C.

Is this still normal? (I believe I have read that 70C max in prime and linx is 10-15C hotter than prime)..

I'm worried I need to reseat my HS ...

Linx with new lin pack will make your SB cpu way hot. And require more voltage then anything else. I think prime is a little more realistic of what your cpu may hit in real use.

prime is usually hotter when your are stress in "in place large fft"

LinX and Intel burn, and Linpack , OCCT all run around the same temp. Just find what you like and stick with it.

I like to use prime to stress for long term stability.

When raising cpu freq i use LinX.
