Mounting TR TY-140 as Top Exhaust

Thread Starter
So, basically I want to mount this TY-140 in a 140mm top exhaust position. But it has 120mm screw holes (which I knew, but I figured I could mod a bracket or something.)

First, before I start I wanted to know if there were any simple solution/purchase that would do the aforementioned task without obstructing to much of the 140mm fan's airflow?

All of the pre-fab brackets I have seen only have a hole big enough for a 120mm fan it seems. I appreciate any thoughts on this!

Better: Velcro pads. They come in matched sets and you can trim them to fit.

BTW - congratulations on your choice of top exhaust fan. It's the best.

I was thinking velcro also, I just didn't know how stable I could make the fan with it. But if others have used it with success I'll give that a try too.

Also thanks for the congrats, I wouldn't have arrived at the TY-140 without the info you provided in similar posts.

I just wasn't sure about the best way to affix it, but so far the solutions you guys have provided sound perfect. Can't wait to start OCing with this new cooling config!

The nice thing about Velcro is that it tends to reduce transmitted vibration.

I cant wait to get this thing. Ordered the TY-140 from SVC a couple of days ago along with a Scythe Slipstream 1200rpm for side intake.

Right now with the case open and a couple of my Antec tricools on high I can get it to 3500mhz (14x250) stable on Prime95. But gets my 1055t to 59C so I wanna wait for the fans before I go any further. Vcore is at 1.35v currently.Hope these fans work well, cuz I feel like I will have a lot of OC room.

Where is a pretty common place to find Velcro patches, haven't really ever had to buy them? Hardware store? Wal Mart?

You can get velcro at any hardware store. I bought a big fat roll for $20 so I always have plenty on hand, as it is useful for many things - http://www.lowes.com/pd_319808-388-9...3FNtt%3Dvelcro
