$800 Editing/Media Build - Help??

Thread Starter
I'm starting to look at parts for building a new PC for Video/Media editing. I will primarily be using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Blender, and Photoshop. I will be planning to overclock and I've been leaning towards the i5 2500k and the Asus P67 Sabertooth, however, I'll be open to better suggestions. If you could post a complete build for around $800 that would be great.

Also, if it would be Hackintosh capable (I love Final Cut Pro), that would be awesome, but not a deal breaker.

Thanks all!!

You should go with a Phenom II x6 1055T 175$ for video encoding it's very good price/performance ratio..

That was my original intention, but I got a lot of posts on my last thread saying the 2500k was better than the X6 for overclocking. I really wanted the X6 though. What MB would you recommend with the X6?

A 890Fx one like the ASUS M4A89TD PRO 170$ or ASUS Crosshair IV Formula 200$ For overlcocking you will still be able achieve high clock with the x6, and for encoding more cores is better than less cores. I agree that the 2500K is very tempting too because you can go past 4ghz, the architecture is better, but in some case the x6 come close to an 1366 i7 in encoding..

The six cores will really help you with video editing. But it's definitely not needed. I do some pretty heavy AVCHD video editing with premiere and use the AMD 955 BE @4.0GhZ and get amazing results.
Although you are looking at a very small price difference between the two, the only problem is with the hexacore processor your going to want to buy an expensive motherboard.

Not really planning to do much gaming. Maybe some Crysis 2, but I don't need 90fps..I'd be fine just getting 25fps. What would you recommend for a GPU around $100-$175? preferably ATI. I'm not a fan of Nvidia.

I do a lot of After Effects work, so I need quick render times, but 90% of my work is all standard def (640x360), So would you still recommend going with the i5?

Also, I'm kind of a power junkie, so I'd like to get to at least 4.0GHz.

I know you said you don't like nvidia but this EVGA 1GB GTX 460 is only $10 more, has a big rebate, Performs better than the 6790, and includes Photoshop Elements 9.

I would Highly recommend getting that instead. (And someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought nVidia had some features that Adobe needs like CUDA or something?)
