Finalizing SB build

Thread Starter
Hey folks.

Here's what my final build SHOULD end up being (unless someone points out something I've done wrong >.>)

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=17145366

There are two SSD's on there right now, as I havent decided which one I'm going to get yet.

I'm still trying to decide on which one..

Comments, Feedback, Criticisms is super appreciated.

IMO I think it would be a good thing to wait just 2 or 3 more weeks and get a Z68 chipset motherboard, instead of getting a P67 Board...

that's my two Cents

About the SSD, I think the OSZ is better.

What's going to be improved upon with the Z68?

I'm not opposed to waiting a few more weeks.

The Z68 will combine the best of P67 (overclock but no Intergated video) and the best of H67 (integrated video but no Overclocking)
The good thing about this is that the i5 has HD video.... When you overclock your i5, You overclock the i5 Video as well. This means that you'll get something like AMD's Hybrid tecnology. But with the benefits of being able to overclocking it. I think this is a worth waiting addon to your rig

EDIT: Besides its gonna be able to support Ivy Bridge with Bios update in the future.. And I almost forgot. HDD info wil be cached on SSD so you can use the speed benefit from SSD and using the HDD as storage.

To quote the Tom's Hardware article:

If Quick Sync means nothing to you, and SSD caching doesn’t sound all that appealing, a P67 board is probably fine
That's me. Quick Sync I'm not worried about. SSD caching, definitely not worried about.

I think I'm gunna go ahead with P67.

I would change the WD Black to a Samsung F3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-185-_-Product
And unless you really need 8gb of ram I would get these rip jaws

Nice point out on the samsung.. has better reviews and higher 5 egg percentage, and 20 bucks cheaper. Thanks

Can I ask why 4GB of Rip Jaws is better than 8GB? I don't know if I need 8GB now, but I may in the next few years..

Well the other sticks are faster (SB likes speed) unless your video editing or rendering your not going to use all 8gb just gaming. I dont ever go over 3.

sandy bridge doesn't "like speed" quite the opposite 1600 will be fine you honestly wouldn't see a difference outside of memory benchmarks. 8gb future proofs you a little or is good if you use allot of memory heavy applications, I run at 5-6gig usage most of the time.

the revo drive is faster but check that they have fixed you being able to use it as a boot drive, not a whole lot of point in a super fast ssd if you cant boot off of it

Really? Looks like speed wins to me.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/mem...sandy-bridge/1

If the op benches get the faster sticks if not stick with the slower ones, easy as that. I like to bench so I went with faster sticks.
