7850 = very high TDP dual core at 95W
65nm so won't OC as far and slightly less clock for clock
Sure it has 2MB L3 cache, but the Athlon II x2 is a modern 45nm design that usually performs and OCs really well... not to mention the much lower 65W TDP

This. There are definite benefits to having L3 cache - if you're comparing the same architecture that is (AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE 3.1 GHz vs AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1 GHz). However, Athlon II X2 240 is newer and the improvements made mostly cancels out the the L3 cache advantage of the Athlon X2 7850.

If Im not mistaking the 7850 is a Phenom X2. Taken from the Phenom quad and tri core and a core or 2 disabled to make it a dual core. So maybe with the right board it can unlock to tri or quad? Although will require much more as far as power and volts though I'm sure.
