Best 1155 HSF right now?

Thread Starter
So I have been searching around the site trying to find what the consensus for the best HSF is right now, but it all seems a bit of a cluster**** in the section, lol. Back when I was building my last rig Megahalem had just come out and was the king. I see the Super Mega looks pretty good right now, but was hoping for some tips on what the best sub-$75 HSF out there was to fit 1155. Thanks a lot for any help yo could give.

Oh, and it is a big plus if the item is available on Newegg. Thanks again.

If you are looking for an air cooler - I hear that the venomous-x and silver arrow are the best under $75. If you can find a Noctua D-14 under $75 then snag that.

Yes, but you can get it at a better price than that.

Or the Thermalright Silver Arrow

Cogage Arrow (same as the Silver Arrow, but the SA has better mounting bracket & fans)

The Egg is good for many things. Specialty high performance parts isn't one of them. smile.gif

Nice, after looking up reviews and benchmarks, looks like I'm gonna grab the Noctua. That thing is HUGE by the way, lol.

Silver Arrow is the same rough size, and slightly outperforms the Noctua biggrin.gif Look at the second graph (easier to read)

Really? Everything I was reading made it sound like they were pretty much identical in performance. One test the SA would win by 1 or 2 degrees, and one test the Noctua would.

When matched with the same fans (Vortez & Xbit Labs both tested that way for scientifically neutral bias), SA rules the roost. Certainly by a slight margin, but still the winner. The idle temp is where the D14 wins. But that's not as important as load temps where the Silver Arrow wins.

Don't get me wrong, you really won't be making a mistake with either one. .25 to 1 degree difference isn't going to make much of a difference. But, you asked for the best biggrin.gif
