Damric: The 460s have about 30% headroom on air, too. So.. not sure what you're on about.
But then again, 8x AA is rather useless unless you're running a 32" TV at that res. Even then, you'd be hard pressed to find the difference between 4x AA and 8x AA. 2x AA to 4x AA is very noticeable, though.

Also, the sample they had isn't particularly great. People regularly get the same, if not better, over-clocks with reference GTX 460 1GB. Also, the FTW version uses a reference PCB and cooler. The chips may be better binned, but the over-clocks they got are standard for the card. Stop crying foul. The GTX 460 is just better for the price if you over-clock.
The GTX 460 FTW is most definitely NOT reference design. I have no idea where you got that idea from, but please do some research before you start making claims.

Yes, it is. Only thing different is it has a MOSFET heatsink. The cooler is reference, as is the PCB.

Don't tell people to do research when it's you that needs to do it.

i dont mind anybody arguing about performance but somewhere in this article someone said gtx 460 takes up too much power and is noisier and is hotter....
the first point power consumption is true but not by a large margin...gtx 460 1gb is a 150-160 watt tdp product just more than what a single 6pin can supply....
all other factors r untrue...gtx 460 r very very quite and cool....

and btw if anybody's wondering...the pci-e slot provides almost 75 watt and the 6-pin also provides same amount so total is 150 watt....now as gtx 460 is 160 watt tdp it just barely needs another 10 watts...and thats the reason for adding 2 6-pin power connectors...if underclocked a gtx 460 can even run on just one 6-pin fine.....so quit whining all ur biased opinions....

Like I said, I own both GTX 460 AND HD 6850. I can tell you for a fact that my 6850 overclocks much higher and are faster than my GTX 460. I also looked through the 3dmark11 database and could not find a GTX 460 score that beat my HD 6850's in Performance or Extreme mode. The scores were not too far off in the Performance mode (720p medium settings), but in Extreme (1080p high details) the GTX gets a 30% buttkicking by my 6850's. If anyone finds one, please do share

I found highest score for a Thuban/460 SLI in performance mode and compared it to my own Thuban/6850 CF:

Couldn't find any good Thuban/460 SLI scores in Extreme mode so I had to substitute a 4.6GHZ Sandy i7

Now don't get me wrong, I love my GTX 460 and it serves its purpose in pushing WoW and Rift on my wife's 1650x1080 monitor very nicely.

Same scenario single card:

6850 beating 460 in Performance, even with a highly clocked sandy bridge:

Proportionally more when settings are increased to extreme:
