Having a problem, but dont know what.

Ok I have been having problems with my sig rig which is currently torn apart. So far I only know that the cpu is fine as I am running it right now for over an hour using prime95 @ 62C. But the problem 1st started with the mobo not wanting to start and this red led light was on when ever I turned it on that is labeled Hot CPU.

Well after a billion cmos resets and restarts I got it to work with my Q6600 again. Well then not to long after I got my GTX 570 It was having problems locking up when both the cpu and the video card where completely loaded doing F@H. After that i put the cpu back and stock and didn't have a problem for a while as I thought it was just a bad overclock. Well this wkend windows started acting funny.

So i restarted it and it took FOREVER to load windows and when i tried to open up chrome it took like a minute for the stupid thing to open. Went to youtube to watch some vids on there cause a friends kid was here and she loves that mickey mouse club house show and tried to play a video well it would start but then started looping in like a 20 sec section and wouldn't go past. Well i tried to close chrome cause flash crashed and i had to force it to close. And was gonna restart windows as I had overclocked the cpu again to like 2.8ghz as that was as high i could get it to go with windows immediately crashing as for some reason @ 3ghz at same voltage it would BSOD even if i increased vcore more.

And now windows wont get past the start up splash screen and will immediately BSOD once the animated startup splash started. Cant see what the error code was or anything as it would restart immediately. Also it took a while for the gpu to actually output a video signal and it was with a video card that Im currently using and its a HD4650.

I have yet to test the gpu in my other mobo as my psu in the sig rig is intertwined into the case to hide cables. But i am going to do that here in a couple mins.

I cant test the ram just yet as my sig mobo is the only board i have that runs DDR3. But once I narrow down the parts here that doesnt include the mobo I will.

The hard drive still works but smart says the hd has had a ULTRA DMA CRC ERROR COUNT at 28161. I know it had some on that before but idk if the count has gone up since I was using it. I have supected it on a build a couple years back but I know its a pain to tell if a hd is dieing off. Usually when a HD had died on me its the clock of death I get or something else quite obvious.

any help would be awesome, also i dont have a multimeter to test the rails of my psu either.

UPDATE: ok I am currently @ 3ghz at stock voltage on this bad boy which is sad because my 790i Ultra needed like 1.4v just to hit that grr. Ok I think I am starting to lean towards the mobo being the issue as I bought off someone on here would have expected it to last longer if that is the deal.

firstly holy wall of text bat man, paragraphs man!

So im assuming this is all still happening at stock? Have you considered doing a full reinstall hopefully its just software related?

After that im going to guess hard drive sounds like its dieing to me.

i read everything u wrote but then forgot ur problem coz there was just too much to read lol i think ur problem is u keep getting bsod and u said something about a redlight on ur mobo, try ur cpu gpu and hd etc on a friends motherboard if it works then ur mobo is screwed if it doesnt work my guess is its ur cpu but i could be wrong just test everything seperately on another mobo to try and rule things out and it should narrow down to the problem, good luck buddy.

@TehStranger? yeah Im currently trying to do this I just cant test my ram due to my gigabyte P35 DS3-L uses DDR2 only. So far my cpu totally is not the problem. It actually is overclocking @ 0.2v lower versus the EVGA 790i ultra at 3.0ghz.

I thought about this after I torn the whole thing apart, so yeah that will be the last thing I do but use a different hard drive. But if it happens again it has to be the motherboard as I just cant think what else it could be....
