i3-2100 vs Phenom II X2 555

I'm having trouble deciding between these two CPU's,I'm building a gaming PC,I'm pretty sure the i3-2100 is better, but will it really matter for gaming?plus the Phenom is cheaper by a good margin,i just need to know if the i3 is better by an amount big enough to justify the price difference.

hmm heres a comparison, go for the i3

Edit: although in regards to the i3, i would recommend looking at a different cpu from intel (maybe a 2500k if its in your budget), since i believe the 2100 doesn't overclock well from what i heard

The I3 2100 will out perform the x2 555. If you need something now, go for that. But if you can wait a month or so, then the bulldozer series of chips will be released, which, presumably, will drop the prices of amd Phenom 2's out now.
Your comparing sandy bridge, the i3, with 32nm architecture vs the amd 45nm architecture. Also, for gaming the i3 will be a bit better.

thanks for the help,I'm going the Phenom, seeing as the main use of the PC is gaming, and I'm on a tight budget, the difference between these two CPUs won't have much affect.

Is the Athlon II quad core 640 better than the Phenom Dual core?

The Athlon is better than the Phenom, but it's out of stock,i guess I'll wait a few days, but the i3 is out of the question, actually, any Intel CPU is out of the question, because the motherboards that are compatible with Intel CPUs are either expensive or have too little expansion slots.
