Disable any kind of AA and you should get a really good frame rate

But yeah, I AMD cards tend to perform better in Crysis 1 for some reason.

I'd ignore it and disable AA, you've got an awesome card
6970 does seem to perform better, however the FPS for that GTX580 seems right. Just trun down AA and maybe disable vsync if you have it on. That should do the trick.

I agree with Pioneerisloud!

My SLi GTX275 with my overclock on both CPU and GPU cannot play crysis with AA on Very high or High at 1920x1080!

Also GTA4 struggles at 4xAA

yet other games like Operation Flashpoint work perfetly

Some say ATI has lower default visual settings, there is a lot said on the subject but I haven't seen anything that really explains why a slower gpu such as a 6850 is faster than a 570/580 in Crysis 1 but nothing else.
That's right, it's weird as hell.

I was shocked when I saw my friend's PC (2600k + x2 580 SLI) was getting way lower FPS than my 6970 CrossfireX in Crysis 1, we had both PC's side by side and quality was the same on both (Same monitor for both, Acer H233H).

So don't know really, it's weird.

The Phantom model is a niche product, if you want to get another one for SLI purpose, you'd better hurry or you won't find it on the market. As a sidenote, in order to max 3x 26" 2x GTX 580 1.5GB are enough I believe, if they release drivers that actually work this time though.

Yeah, there's no really need for 3Gb of vRAM, I think it's a total waste unless you want to run x3 2560x1600 monitors...

But for x3 1080p/1200p monitors, 1.5Gb of vRAM is plenty

I know there is no need, but I just wanted to make sure my system was future proof, and for £50 more, for 1.5gb, I thought, why not eh?

Also, Crysis was the game I had in mind to be able to run at good fps, although when I turn AA off, it's above 44 fps mostly. Very smooth & playable. I just don't like the jaggies.

2xAA isn't enough to rid the jaggies either...

I may just mod it, and see how well I can run it. Any mod suggestions that don't take 3 years of research to apply?

+50£ only? Can't debate this As for future proofing, guys at nVidia/AMD have their ways of disrupting our plans, they just need to have a new version or two of Direct-X which of course won't be supported by our current cards, which in time will lead us to buy new cards.

Honestly, spending £50 more for 1.5GB of useless vRAM was the worse thing you did...

Having more vram doesn't mean more future proof... You'll be as future proof with 1.5Gb...

You wasted £50 you could have used on something else
