The disk check being stuck COULD just be from a large file. You should be running the Western Digital Diagnostics on it (I forget what they're called). Should be an ISO that you download, burn, and then boot into it instead of Windows. They might have a Windows utility out by now though, not sure.
It came through successful, drive appears to be okay! I contacted scan.co.uk where I got my GTX 580 from, and they said if it's in original condition (which it is), they'll refund it.

And I'm now tempted to try HD 6970 Lightning... will I see a massive decrease in performance?

Also, after much fiddling around, I managed to get GTA IV working, it maxes out perfectly, not seen the FPS yet, but it runs so smooth, and that's all I care about.

Crysis runs smooth, but not with AA. Which is expected.

The Crysis Benchmark however, fails, won't even load. Is this because of Steam or something? Cause I linked the folder properly, hmmm!

The Anti-Aliasing to be frank is crap that doesn't change much of anything. When people say they can max out Crysis, 90% of those dudes disable AA because it just is a huge performance loss with very minimal visual rewards.

^This.

I don't even enable AA in Crysis 1 or Crysis 2 because I can't see the difference unless I take screenshots and compare them both... But while playing I can't see any difference, so why sacrifice my FPS for something I can't notice?

Sweet on the drive!

The HD6970 is still a solid card. You likely won't feel any difference at all in most games between it and your current 580. It's a downgrade, but you should still be able to max out all your games fine at 1080p.

GTA IV will run fluidly completely maxed out on a 470 with a 3.7GHz Sandy Bridge (stock).

Crysis's AA is so horrible anyway, I would still suggest just leaving it off anyway. Don't forget to mod it, that's when that GTX580 will really pull its weight in that game. Try this mod, but instead of using his ToD, use the Real Lifesys 1, plus RELI2. It's a lot easier to install this way, and looks just as good, if not better.

Thanks for a great reply, I'm still debating whether to keep the GTX 580 or not, I do love knowing I have the fastest single GPU at the moment, I just don't know if I can warrant not utilising it to it's full potential, I.E. not having three monitors, or another GTX 580 lol!

I'm wondering if MSI HD6970 Lightning Crossfire is the way to go... I've seen some crazy crazy FPS's with those cards. And it's much more viable considering the GTX 580 was £467, and two of these cards are £550, £90 difference for an insane amount of performance.

A stock GTX 580 1.5GB hits 40FPS AVG at 1920 x 1200,4x AA CLICK HERE..

And only AMD cards that perform better in Crysis are dual GPU HD5970 and HD6990..

CHEERS..

I'd personally always go for the strongest single card solution. Just me though. I hate having to deal with potential dual+ GPU issues with drivers, and unsupported games and whatnot. Some people have no issues, I always end up being in that 1% that has every issue known to man.

If you DO have the potential to go into a triple monitor setup soon, then take the downgrade to the 6970. That one card should handle three 1080p screens with moderate to high settings.

What FPS are u expecting with 16x?
And no, Crysis AA is not crap, but it is rather heavy for an already heavy game.

Get another card and try 4xMS + 4xSGSSAA. Nothing AMD has can not touch that IQ wise.

Or just cut down the background crap and play at 2xMS

Well, I've heard different, and I have seen that review before, I don't trust benchmarks cause I've ALWAYS had different results, usually by a good 10fps.

I think the Phantom is a very good card, overkill at the moment, but (hopefully) it won't last (see: Battlefield 3); if I was you I'd keep it.
