i knew you wouldn't run out of vram on a 1080p monitor, 27mb under the max vram, although this does make me want to sell my gtx 560 and buy one with 2gb vram

1.5GB of vram usage in BMAA ... and that's at 1080p resolution?

I don't see how you possibly could get that high of vram usage using the in-game settings. You must be forcing crazy levels of AA through NVCP (like 16xQAA + 8xTRSSAA) to get it that high ... aren't you?

He has to be, I force 16xAA and 16xAF through ncp and while playing bfbc2 at 1080 it rarely goes over 700mb of usage.

Thats at 1900x1200 with this settings below. I just want to show that you can max out ram with 1900x1200.

Waiters will always wait, I have a friend who is holding onto an original iphone with a smashed screen he can barely see through in order to buy the latest and greatest (he will forever wait )

While sometimes waiting can be beneficial, at other times it can be just plain pointless.

Next gen cards will always be announced close to the release of a new card, thing is tho, there are hardly any games WORTH playing that will max current high end hardware.

Metro2033 was one of the best games I've played in a long time and it made me glad I built the rig I have.

Enjoy your 580 dude, it's a great card

Well, shut my mouth. I just fired it up maxed out at 8xQAA and hit 1200MB in the opening credits/wheeling in the Joker part.

I guess I never noticed what a vram hog this game is cause I originally played it on my 5850's, and you don't get vram usage on ATI cards in AB (at least you didn't back then).

Interestingly, I just shut off SLI and went to single card+dedicated physX card, and vram usage dropped by nearly 200MB in the same part of the game

This "Asus DirectCuII GTX580" is not quiet at all. I'm having the fans at 25%, and they're the loudset part in my system. I can hear them just fine when my case is closed. Which is a nosie isolated case. At 30%, they sound like an jetengine.

My old Accelero XtremeGTX280 GPU cooler, outperforms this one here, when it comes to being quiet.

So now I have 1 option:

-Buy an Accelero Xtreme plus and put on my Asus GTX580. But I dont know if my card is reference or non reference. And therefor I dont know if it'll fit.
You know if it'll fit?

It has nothing to do with GTX 580 more than it has to do with the Asus DirectCuII and coupled with the fact your coming from a lower level card to a high performance card of today. It's different and may take some getting used to.

Your card is a non-reference card because it has after market cooling fans as opposed to the reference models manufacturers make. The cards with the case enclosure and fan toward the front or middle of the card blowinig hot air out the back flow bracket outside your case are reference cards.

MSI Twin Frozr II, Lightning, Hawk cards are pretty quite as non-reference cards. I owned an MSI AMD 6970 TFII card and it was very quite.

I personally like the reference cards because I like the hot air going out the back of my rig instead of being dumped inside bringing ambient temps up including my over clocked CPU.

You get cooler cards however with the non-reference models and allow higher over clocks on air.

So there is a trade off. Good luck bud.
