GTA IV
Black Ops
I THINK YOU MEAN THE 5970!( wich is a $1000 dual gpu card ) And it only slightly out performs the gtx580 in a few games.

The 6970 is a good card ( no doubt ) but the gtx 580 is the fastest single gpu card !!

Good thing you got the 580,and frankly it's more of futureproof than overkill, congrats bro

I was actually talking about the HD 6970, and because for some obscure reason, fermi cards suck at the games I mentioned, the HD 6970 does perform better than the GTX 580 JUST because of the bad coding.

Which I agree with whoever said it on a previous post (+rep for you when I find you LOL).

I just don't think it's worth it... I'm still on the fence about RMA'ing the card...

Not 100% sure yet, I don't see how everyone is so happy with the GTX 580, it's sucked in all the games I want to play so far lol.

No better than my GTX 470.

I know I sound like an dumb nvidia fanboy, but I dont see any reason for switching it out, since it have worked so well for me, for the last 4 years.

Btw how much watt does a GTX580 consume? Ive seen reviews where they stated +400w. But they never wrote anything, if it was for the whole system or just for the GTX580 alone.
Its the whole system.

It's physically impossible for a GPU with 1 x 6pin and 1x 8pin PCI-e connectors to draw anywhere near 400W due to the power output limitations of the connections.

You wont be sorry you got the 580. Its an amazing card, especially if you put it under water and OC and do some benchmarking for OCN HWBOT team

Go to the review for the 6970. The gtx 580 beats the 6970 in every benchmark/game including ones you listed!

Your psu is more than enough for 1 GTX 580 and Im pretty sure it will run SLI no problem.

I run a 580 at 1080p? I bit much? Not sure. But I bought the card back in December and I've had this monitor for 4 years, and when I bought the card I factored in that more then likely I'd be buying a new monitor in the coming year and having the 580 would open up my choices a bit too

I saw a thread where someone said its way overkill. But is there any confirm for that?
Otherwise, I'll just grap a GTX570 instead.
It appears that you're all into Nvidia. I was too for 20 years until MSI latest creation. If you're looking for GTX 580 performance @ that resolution which is not overkill and you do not care for PhysX, you can have more vram and save $100 if you buy the MSI 6970 Lightning

Here's the catch...You must overvolt & OC the 6970 Lightning to have GTX 580 performance. If you're not into OC'ing GPUs, do not waste your time with this card.
