First loop halp

Thread Starter
Hello, I got my H70 and I'm somewhat happy with it but I feel that I wanna try water cooling, so got some questions. Would it be worth it to do a CPU only loop or should I throw in my GPU(s) (getting another 580 some day) when I first build it? I got a Corsair 800d case so that won't be any problem.

-What size rad if I go CPU only loop? Would a 360 rad in the top be too much so should I go 240?
-If I include GPUs would it be sufficient with a 360 or do I need 1 or 2 more 120s? As I don't really wanna mod. Should a 360 be sufficient for a 950 @ 4.x GHz (might clock further) but right now @ 4.0 with 1.22v and a single 580?
-What parts do I need i.e fittings etc? I'm new to it but got a pretty basic idea of how it works with res before pump, leak test 24 hours, heat dissipation etc. And understood from what people say that it's pretty simple What I can remember off the top of my head now is (for CPU only): Rad, tubing, fittings, pump, res and block.
-Dual or single loop if I include the single and future double GTX 580? I know I'll need multiple rads for 2 580s but would you suggest a double or single loop?
-Could you set up a basic loop for a 800d (with drawing if you don't mind) so I can get a general idea of how it would be, either with or without GPU.

Think that sums up what I think right now, hope to get some inspiration

Look at RASA club in my sig.
I got the RASA kit off of Frozen CPU (750 RS360). I was using a similar cooler to the H70 and my temps dropped roughly 15c at full load. Absolutely amazed with my $150 investment.

Fairly easy to install. And it literally comes with everything you need minus the distilled water

So there wouldn't be any point going full custom loop? And get RS 240, 360 or RX 240/360 if I get it, because no norwegian shops got them as far as I could find out.

Yeah i was thinking about WCing later on have like a 120 rad at the front of my case and have a 240 and the top just to cool my CPU and gfx card.
You know, EK has some wonderfull manuals for their kits. You could read those and get a feel for what all you need with plenty of pictures and descriptions.

The sticky at the top of this forum has a ton of useful information aswell.

I just ordered my first kit and a 240RAD. I cannot help with your questions, but 360 RAD should do a fine job with cpu and 1 gpu.

My kit has a 120RAD and I ordered a 240RAD too. I plan to stick my 120 between my CPU and GPU to see if it helps any.

A rasa RX 360 kit or the EK 360 kit are good options and would allow you to add a GPU to your loop later on. The 800d is a nice case because you can fit a 360 in the top and add atleast another 240 internally. What are you looking to spend if you go with water cooling?

Also kits or custom loops will perform better than the corsair or other all in one water cooling solutions.

Stuff is a lot more expensive in Norway so would be hard to give a budget in USD. For example I paid like $2800 for my sig rig. So just a high-end loop for CPU with possibility for adding my GPU later on. Maybe 300 USD limit or something? Don't really know. If it get's cheaper than that's it's all good, just want a decent loop with colored tubing

You should be able to get one of those 360 kits. You can add to it later if you want too.

I have read all kinds of stories of people dropping 10-20C on a kit with 240RAD or 360RAD vs H50 H70 or equiv.

Norway huh? Where do you normally order parts?

Here and here, these sites, they don't have water cooling components (or kits for that matter) so I will be ordering my watercooling from this site unless I can get it cheaper from some internationally shipping web shop.

The last link where I will order my WC from got some kits tho, not RASA but some custom kits it seems, I think I can do adjustments to them aswell if I contact them: Link to kit list (norwegian)
