Two of the biggest problems that hacking the iPhone caused was 1, being able to get any game free on iTunes(huge theft problem) and 2, being able to use your phone as a modem(stealing $ from att tethering service) and yet, even with those known problems(and really, those are the only reason people jailbreak) it was legalized. Talking about cheating on the PSN is big, but theft of thousands of $ worth of charges to apple and att are completely different.

My point is, if apple/att got squashed in the lawsuit about jailbreak, when they had a legitimate complaint as to what the jailbreak would be used for. Jail-breaking your ps3 and using it to cheat in online games sounds like a breeze to most lawyers.

In my view, this settlement was a HUGE win for Geo. It was basically a slap on the hand saying..."please dont do it again, leave us alone" and one and done.

Ah, yes, you do raise a valid point about the piracy and tethering. However, I honestly think tethering shouldn't be an add-on (but that's just my personal opinion and has ZERO baring on the actual law itself.)

I guess we'lll see, eh? Perhaps within the next few months to a year we'll see consoles and all hardware/software added to the DMCA?

LOL, i dont agree with anything i have said. LOL. I personally think tethering should be free. If your on X amount of internet, you should be able to use it anyway you choose. BUT, i was just making a point and glad that it didnt get lost in my jibber-jabber.

It would be nice to see em added to the DMCA but it will take forever and i dont like waiting...im inpatient lol

Obviously the George is just trying to show off and its getting old.

(i do understand its a different type of hacking but they both have the same goal in a way)

This is why I hate famous hackers, or hackers who want to do something to become famous.

Tethering should be free, it isn't a "feature" of the service provider
only reason hacking doesn't bother me, and i'm not talking about piracy, is the possibilities i guess.
You can have a device that does "bleh" or you could have a device that does "ZOMG NO WAI", which would you choose xD
But for some reason people get offended by this stuff really easy, as if their lives get completely ruined by this kinda stuff

I think it would be nice to have tethering for free, but providers have every right in existence to charge extra. You pay for your phone's internet. Not your computer or whatever else you want to tether. You agreed to this when you bought it from the provider in the first place. They have separate devices and contracts for that.

I dislike that providers like Verizon and AT&T charge out the ass for tethering. That's what has left a stale taste in my mouth, but I still dislike when people think that just because "they're the consumer" - anything they say goes.
