I would love a top of the line air cooler, but since my case doesn't support it...meh. I'll just make sure that all my other fans run in a good config so my overall temp stays down well too.

there is a quick review comparing it to a nh-d14

i can't see it sustaining a 24/7 5ghz overclock without being modded

again depending on how high you are going to be overclocking i doubt a h70 stock can keep temps bellow 60C that's just not realistic. maybe low 70s to mid 60s? not sure

Oh god, the H70 is so overkill for that chip it's not even funny. You really could get by with a MUCH cheaper cooler. If I were you I would upgrade your cpu before you start buying hundred dollar coolers. If you could find an old e8400 or q9550 for cheep on ebay it would be perfect, and a nice upgrade.

Edit: One more thing about the H70 (which I have used and is fantastic). It's not really designed to be an alternitive to watercooling. Instead, it's an alternitive to high end air cooling, which it's pretty much neck in neck with. It has the advantages of exhausting cpu heat dirrectly out of your case, of being easy to install (compared to some huge air coolers which are a pain), and it looks "neater". The downside is you pay soothing of a premium for all that and, at the moment, it is a couple of degrees behind the absolute best air coolers (something the new antec should fix since it beats the h70 by a small amount).

I use the H50, and it's wonderful for my mediocre 1ghz overclock. Keeps things cool and clean. It also has some holes on the other side of the rad so you could get some extra fan power on it if you wanted to.

I unfortunately have used up every available fan power source, and even resorted to buying a couple 4pin - 3pin adapter cables so I could add more fans.

Anyway's. H50/70 are a cheap alternative to water cooling. And super easy to install!
If you're wanting to jump into water cooling, then ignore the H50 / H70. That's not water cooling. It is, but its cheating...since its a completely sealed loop. It's nice, competes with high end air, little to no maintenance...yeah, sure.

If you want to step into REAL water cooling, look into the Rasa 240 or 360 kit (the 240 is usually the best bang per buck, especially for CPU only). You'll get superior temperatures, for only $30 more than the H70. Plus, you'll get the satisfaction of getting a REAL kit. You will likely want to order better tubing with it though, as I've noticed a lot of complaints on the tubing that comes with the Rasa kits. It'll work, but it starts looking muddy after a while.

As others have said, the H70/H50 are a closed loop water systems without the typical DIY water-cooling type maintenance.
Chances of leaking are really low unless there was a defect when built or you stretch/bend the tubing too far.
It is technically a full water cooling system - just without the resevoir.

Why do you want water cooling?

H50/70 Cooling Performance: It will be on par with any high end Air cooler.

Noise: It won't necessarily make your current air system any quieter - the stock rad fans on the H70/50 are quite lound at full speed. Aftermarket fans do improve things, but still not quiet. The Gentle Typhoon AP-14/15 are the best IMO - but also impossible to find as they are always out of stock. They also cost $15-$20 each so getting new fans starts to add up $$.

Water Pro: Takes up significantly less space in your case than a massive heat sink + fans. Much cleaner look.
H50/70 Water Cons: When/If the pump goes in a few years you better be there to turn off your PC.

If you are concerned about temperature, the reality is if your CPU is running at 40 vs 70 doesn't matter other than the cool factor.
If you plan on massively overclocking and increasing your voltage then ya you need to keep the temps below manufacturer specs which usually requires H20.
But you have to ask yourself if you need to overclock to this level, or if it's just for fun/hobby?

For the most part, water cooling is just a fun hobby with the "cool" factor and if you like to tinker like everyone here does, then go for it.

Well I want the best solution for me. I am in a confusing situation. If I take the 22cm fan off, I think I can use most of the top of the line aircoolers. However, I like the idea of my 22cm, so that's why water cooling intrigues me. Sorry if you all wanted to talk about "real water cooling". How far should the stock Intel heatsink take my system? If it could get to 4Ghz I may just be happy with that.

I have a Asetek 570LX with a 240MM Rad. and it works great for a closed end system.
