Help Stabilize Overclock - Page 3

I've been fooling around with settings, and discovered that the reason for instability was because the lack of Vcore and/or NB/CPU voltage. Because Vcore and volatage are already high, I decided to step down the OC.

This setting fails P95 Custom test (2048-4096kB @ 3GB Memory) at the 8 hour mark:

FSB: 235Mhz @ 1.5375 Vcore
RAM: 1567Mhz @1.55V (9-9-9-24)
NB/CPU: 2350Mhz @ 1.3V
HT Link: 2115Mhz @ 1.225V
NB: 1.1V

As you can imagine, it is now become very time-consuming because I have to wait 7-8 hours before knowing if a specific setting is stable or not. I was wondering if there was anyone who knows a faster way to check instability (is there a way I can emulate the test P95 is performing at the 7-8 hour marks), and does anyone know the exact reason why it is failing at the 7-8 hour mark?

On another side note, has anyone here attached heatsinks on their MOBO mosfets? If so, what effect did it have on their OC? I have a 4+1 Powerphase with no cooling (other than case fans). I am ruling that this might be a reason for instability, but I am not sure.

Posting this so that it may help others with similar parts. I finally found the stable OC w/the lowest Voltage needed:

FSB 235MHz
CPU 3.525GHz @ 1.5375Vcore
RAM 1567MHz 9-9-9-24 @ 1.525V
CPU/NB 2350MHz @ 1.30625V
HT Link 2115MHz @ 1.225V
NB @ 1.1V

This setup passed IBT for 20 passes and completed 24 hours of P95 Blend without errors.

But, it looks like I will be doing an upgrade to my rig (MOBO, CPU, & RAM), so I wasted alot of electricity & time for only a month's use of this setup.

Copper roofing nails with flattened and polished head faces,TIM'd in place

This is an example http://www.jrcroofing.co.uk/copper-c...ing-nails.html

These are 100% copper and can be shortened to suit your needs, there are others that cut down old alu cpu sinks but alu in not as good as copper
