Books on Intermediate C++?

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
Hi OCN,

I'm wondering if any of the coders here could give me some recommendations on books that will kind of lead me into an intermediate/slightly advanced level of C++ programming. I've read and understood all of the concepts in Stephen Prata's "C++ Primer Plus Fifth Edition" and Walter Savitch's "Problem Solving with C++" so I feel like I've been given a solid intro to the basics of C++ like objects, classes, structures, pointers, streams, etc. I'm looking to get into stuff like networking and Windows API programming.

So if anyone has any suggestions for books that will lead me down those paths I'd appreciate hearing them.

Fantastic choice, Plex.

I've ordered the book that Plex linked. I didn't think that this was worthy of making an entirely new thread, so I'll just ask here.

Addressing this part of my post:

I ordered this book as an intro to the Windows API:

But could anyone recommend me a good read about TCP/UDP networking in C++? Nothing crazy, just looking for a solid intro to TCP/UDP socket programming.

Thanks for the help so far, really appreciate it
