Yeah, people lie. But their explanation is logical, and the evidence of it not being a port outweighs the evidence that it is. We can't assume everything everyone tells us is a lie without any proof, because everything would descent into chaos. I take them by their word because I have no reason not to.

And yeah, I'm enjoying the game immensely. I'm not arguing that, or anything like it, I'm only saying people are making wild theories bordering on the conspiracy, without any real backing.

are you saying that the explanation that it is a console port based on the fact that it has "please do not turn off your console" is illogical? really? What if it had said press start to continue? would you have dismissed that too?

what about the poster that says there are some muddy textures and obviously low resolution renderings? I would like to see his screen shots...
because simply I did not look for that while playing the game... just like I did not look at the ground grass textures that were referenced in the Cysis 2 comparisons.

If he shows proof of simply low res textures are you going to dismiss him too? because its screen shots?

It is actually, the game is on the source engine... what is source engine's main lead platform? PC. Would valve have to do what they said to get through the certification and validation process? Yes. Using 2 lines as prove of it being a console port is illogical as you've never coded.

Why do people think it's a console port? The controls are fine, the settings are present, the game isn't "dumbed down" (although it is fairly easy), it's properly optimized. It is graphically outdated (it'd say horribly outdated, even), but I doubt it's because it was meant to be a multiplatform release. Guys at Valve are just lazy and don't want to write (or buy) a new engine.

Looks freaking amazing for source game! Whoever did the HD thing for HL2 needs to do it for this game... I wonder if it is worth it..

Again, why would Valve have to run those two lines on a PC product if it wasn't designed for a console.
But for the record, I have conceded the point to another poster that what he said was probable. As I have never programmed for a game cross platform.

but alot of people feel its a port... here is a good article summing it up:

SO it's a port because of it's length and has dlc? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Other then the 2 other things I don't s ee where they are getting "clues" from, if it's controller thing in the menu that's even stupider.

I'm just saying that article shows a lot of people are calling it a port...
and Valve originally deleting threads about it being a port before they finally decided to answer the one thread that has been quoted all over the internet.

they made people suspicious.

and that suspicion does not just go away because they gave an explanation.

right people claim port on anything... There's no real proof to it being a port, Valve deleted some threads, t hat doesn't mean much.
