Portal 2 a console port? - Page 9

Have most of you who are calling out console port even read through this thread. On the very first page, someone posted a link to valve's response concerning this issue, which explains very well what happened and clearly states and I quote :
Quote:
it's certainly not true that the game was built for consoles and then ported to PC. Like most of our past titles PC in fact tends to be the most used platform internally during much of development
And here's the full post over on the steam forums.

I do love the game, it's great, played it a few hours today. My post was concerning most people getting worked up, either way if its a console port or not, if it's fun it's fun. I thoroughly enjoyed DA:2 regardless of what it was for example.

I still think it was somewhat of a port, but that's not a shock these days and I'll still be getting it. Funny thing is I will be getting the PS3 version so I have no reason to cry about it.

It has the same UI, basic gameplay mechanics, and rendering engine of the original Portal.

And everyone knows that the no level designer worth his salt develops anything on a platform that isn't the Sega Dreamcast. Saying otherwise makes you a moron from that ethnicity that nobody likes.

I've played both games. One of them I stopped 3 hours into and haven't touched in a month and one of them I voted best game of the decade one year in.

Bet ya can't guess which one!

Protip: It was NOT the one where monsters jump out and do the Charleston under neon disco lights in front of you

Curious, but except for the saving thing... Why? There are some parts of the game that need such trigger reaction I don't even see how they play at all on consoles. Not saying this is proof of the contrary, but wouldn't they have made some of the puzzles even easier if it was?

No one ever claimed that Valve didn't make it work perfectly for the computer. Which is why we like Valve for the PC. But they know how to optomize their games for both.

However.. the fact that the computer version has warning for a console shows that is was developed for a console... ported to the computer... optomized really well... but still shows it was a console port.
First page second or third post shows pc was lead.
