Prime95 test fail!!!

Thread Starter
i was running prime95 for about three hours straight when my pc shut off and usally it restarts but this time it didn't i can't get it to post i even thought maybe the power supply failed but i used a different one and know luck and i tested my main psu with the paper clip trick and it turns on no problem. So i would like to know if there's any tips or if my mobo is shot. Btw processor was overclocked to 3.82

Your overclock was unstable to the point where Windows can't POST. It's not rare, it happens all of the time.

Fix this by clearing your CMOS. You most likely have a jumper. If you do not, just remove the battery for 5-10 seconds and then put it back. What this does it resets everything to default values and such so you can POST again. You'll need to re-apply all of your previous BIOS settings.

Remember to disconnect the power cord before clearing the CMOS!

all you need to do is clear the CMOS dude... all the steps you took weren't really needed, just take the CMOS battery out once the pc is powered off (PSU as well)

nope when i go to hit the power button the fans and power supply fan only flash for like a half second. i forgot to mention yesterday when my computer shut off the power regulators and caps were really hot like burn to the touch. but my cpu voltage was only at 1.43 around there.

So you removed the power cord, moved the jumper for 5-10 seconds and cleared the CMOS? Didn't boot. You then tried removing the CMOS battery itself for 5-10 seconds and it still didn't boot?

Do you have another mobo to boot off of?
