How to run Phenom X4 9950 with it's 4 cores on GA-MA78GM-US2H ( rev. 1.0)

Thread Starter
Hi, a friend of mine have bought my old Phenom X4 9950 processor, he tried to install this processor on a GA-MA78GM-US2H motherboard.

The problem is the CPU is reading only two cores.

This is because the motherboard is rev. 1.0 and when we visited the MB website the processor was not included in the CPU Support List. the Phenom X4 9950 is supported on the rev. 2.0 only.

We have tried updating the bios but with no good.

any suggestions ?

Buy the 2.0. Else, you have ZERO support for the CPU. That's why I stress researching before you buy. frown.gif

It's a 140W CPU, I wouldn't run it at all on either board revision both of which feature a cheap 4+1 phase VRM with known problems....

lol, like people running a PII X4 @ 4.0 on an ASrock extreme3 870 mobo, looks like a dman steal until you realize that that burning smell isnt coming from its "blazing" speed........
