Normal Tempatures for New 2600k. - Page 2

Theres a simple answer for this , you spent your money on a new SB chip yet you have the worst air cooling possible .

Go get yourself a h50 or h70 along with some as5 or mx2 thermal compound and enjoy 20c idle temps , if not overclocked and you get those temps u have a problem considering i use an i7 870 @ 4.2ghz and i idle at 30c exactly and load mid 60's low 70's using a h50 .

If i went into my bios and loaded optimized defaults , no overclock at all on my cpu then id be ideling in the teens . Trust me get one of these coolers , and be done with it .. may aswel spend that extra 50$ on a decent cooler for your decent cpu .

My temps are identical to yours. Nothing to worry about. Heck, I even hit 70 at load.

Glad that worked for you. Haha that is not by accident I hit the vcore right on

Make sure you run a good pass of blend to ensure stability. The last thing you want is be in the middle of doing something important and you bsod. It is rare that it will happen if you have already done some stress testing and were okay, but better to be 100% sure that your safe.

Thread Starter
Ya know.. I'm sitting here, stressing about why the damned thing is so hot for being stock, I was watching CPUID while I was working on the stress test, and noticed under full load it was clocking itself up to 4.5ghz, sometimes 4.6ghz.

Confused, I started going through the programs I installed from the gigabyte disc after I finished building the system, and realized it had a smart6 program on there that had the damned thing on TURBO Stage III. Which overclocks it to 4.5ghz under load.

I'm so dumb. x_x

You will not see idle temps really any lower than 27-30C even on water at normal ambient temps. To get lower you would have to either directly cool the rad or be pushing ice cold air through it.
