Upgrades for a HP P6624y Desktop? please help

Thread Starter
Hey guys just a couple of questions. I have a leftover HP P6624y (bought multiple $600 bundle (Hp p6624y + 23" led monitor + printer) deal from bestbuy on Black friday for my work).

Here are the specs for the computer http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...odTypeId=12454.

Now i wanted to set this up in my house.
Goals: WoW and SC2 at MAX Settings.
Run 3 Monitors. I have 2 1920 x 1080 Hp x23 LED monitors. + 1080p Plasma TV. I want to be able to run 2 monitors + tv at the same time. Want to run my tv with an HDMI cable (for watching ripped movies; etc).
Also want to be able to hook in my MBP 13" into one of the monitors when/if i want to.

Questions:
1. What video card do i need to be able to run 3 monitors at once? Will i be able to run 2 dvis and 1 hdmi? Please link a specific card.
2. Do i need a new PSU? If so please link the right psu for your video card recommendation.
3. Is this worth doing? lol. Should i just try to sell the desktop for $500-$600 (could i get that much, its BNIB) and than try to build my first computer? Budget would be $1000 if i did that.

BTW Budget for upgrades: $200-$300.

More than likely you will need a new PSU since whatever is in there is more than likely crap.

Then you would need an ATI card since you only have one pci-e connector and I am pretty sure the GTX 590 is the only single nvidia card that can run more than two monitors.

Newegg is your friend.

1. Any new AMD card will run Eyefinity... here's the one I recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-523-_-Product

$240 but there's a $30 rebate...

It can do everything you listed as it has an HDMI port and so forth.

2. Your PSU is pathetic even compared to what I have. For this video card you'll need something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371016

It's $60...

That's exactly $300... max budget but it will do everything you said you want.

3. You can try, but pick out parts for new build before selling and see if it's worth it.

To run 3 monitors at the same time do i need one of these flex cards?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102906

I read on newegg reviews of a sapphire card that the non-flex cards require a active adaptor to use 3 monitors at once, which costs another $100

That flex sounds like some specific sapphire marketing thingy. You just need any card that will suppose eyefinity.

EDIT: So flex is sapphire's way of letting you hook up a third dvi monitor whereas most cards require the third monitor to have a displayport connector, or for you to use an Active DisplayPort adapter.

yeah this whole eyefinity thing is a little confusing. i wanted to run 2 dvi monitors + Hdmi TV at the same time. I keep reading i have to use the display port for the 3rd monitors??? Is there anyway to use 2 dvis + Hdmi? Or amd i suppose to use 1 dvi, 1 displayport, 1 hdmi?

Im thinking about going with this card (only $30 more, not including rebate since i never count those lol). Flex card. + i could unlock it to be a 6970 since i am limited to a single card since this is a prebuilt and won't support sli or cfx. Id rather go over budget by a little and be good for awhile.

Anyways will this card support 3 monitors running at full resolution? 1920 x 1080 each.

Quick question guys:

Which combo should i go with? $25 is not a big deal if it means a better card; etc.

1. Flex 6950 + 500 w PSU

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102929
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371016
Total $340

2. Asus 6950 ( Says it supports 6 monitors, will this let me run 3 monitors without purchasing an active adaptor) + 650 W Psu

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.627714
Total: $355

3. Sapphire 6970 (no flex so how would running 2 dvi + 1 hdmi work?) + 600w psu

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.627710
Total: $365
