It's Valves party piece, it's what they do. Very similar to how DICE keep dropping these BF3 teaser videos, it's just another way of getting publicity. It might negatively effect your opinion of Valve, but you'll still love the game as much as you did before and there's no doubt you'll buy it.

I agree that Valve should release games more often, but if they did they'd all be to a lower quality standard. It takes time to make something as great as Valve usually do.

...and yet the game still looks outstandingly great. I don't know whether it's just the cleanliness that makes me like the source engine so much, but it makes me wonder about other engines when I can get 100+fps in this with all the extras, and struggle to maintain 50fps in Bulletstorm without AA whilst Portal actually looks better.

That's just being a jerk to your fans.

And I am a HUGE Valve fan, still, unlike what happened with Nintendo.

And I could run any Source engine game at 100+ FPS with my old 8800 GTS.

Now, it's just a joke. If I actually enable FRAPS on it, I'd be getting 300+.
Is this all over the lack of EP3? It seems like that is the only reason you are arguing against valve... and valve is making it, you'd have to be stupid to be thinking otherwise.

I'm usually a fan of Indie games (I just love Osmos, and of course PVZ)..

But I bought that pack.. Let's see.. Cogs was semi-interesting but I got stuck in one of the levels despite doing it right and just didn't feel like going forward. That tower defense game (one of my favorite genres) that got a great review on IGN ended up being a pile of crap that I have no idea how anyone could think was good. The disregard for gravity game was interesting, but I found it difficult and not addictive like a friend of mine said - another weird suggestion I was certain would turn out well and didn't.

You don't seem to understand.

There's a difference between releasing Half Life in 1997 and Half Life 2 in 2004.

That's totally fine and I like it - it builds suspense.

But when you release Half Life: The First Half in 1997 and Half Life: The Second Half in 2004..

That's when I get angry.

And also, you can't compare your gaming experience to the average consumer. You're gaming on 3 year old hardware.

Yes, they're MAKING it, but it's ridiculous.

They started this "episodic content" idea for the SOLE PURPOSE or releasing small games FREQUENTLY.

Then.. they just kind of forgot about it all and decided that they just didn't give a crap and they didn't release Episode 3 early, later.. or even at all.

I SERIOUSLY doubt they're working on it.

If they were, it would already be out. How long does it take to make a 5-hour game like Episode 1 and Episode 2 were?

At most a year.

If they're working on anything, it's Half Life 3, but for not making an Episode 3 and not caring to tell us that they're not and just leaving us thinking there will be..

I am not purchasing Portal 2. That is my entire argument.

The game looks fantastic to me. They're in a constant state of overhaul with each new game, so it's not like they're using an identical engine here.

The coop was a nice cherry on top after the campaign though. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I still have the fourth area left to do, but what I've done so far was so much fun.

I don't have buyer's remorse even in the slightest, especially after they gifted all the games out to the Golden Potato earners. They're easily worth what I paid for Portal 2 + Potato Sack.

Huh? The first and second episodes of Half Life 2 were released within 3 years of each other. Half Life 1 was released in 1997. To my understanding, the Half Life episodes are perfectly normal games in terms of length, although I've never played any of them. You can't really complain.

So the average consumer is running brand new hardware? My rig seems fairly "average", remember, you're on an enthusiast website. I'd safely assume that the average rig on Steam is around about my specifications.

Buyer's remorse? About a Valve game? Never!

I didn't say I didn't want to buy Portal 2 - I will, when the price drops.

I am simply doing this out of principal, taking a stand, if you will.

No they weren't.

Half Life 2 was released at the end of 2004.
Half Life 2 Episode 1 was released in the middle of 2006.
Half Life 2 Episode 2 was released in the end of 2007.

That's 1.5 years of each other.

And since, it's been 3.5 years, with no news whatsoever.

You're contradicting yourself for the sake of arguing with me.

The people on Steam might have old rigs, but they also wouldn't care about the things you do as an enthusiast, as you said, running the game at 100+ FPS.
