i7 2600k idling 66C ***

Thread Starter
So i have a new rig i just built.. granted its my first build but i feel like i installed everything correctly.

these temps are scaring me.

i used Core Temp after a fresh install of drivers just to be safe..

the pc is idling load 1-10% and the temps on all cores are at like 66C !!!

i am using the corsair h50 and i did the install as best i could with some thermal paste after cleaning off the stuff it came with.

the backplate for the h50 did not fit perfectly on the 1155 board so i screwed it in diagonally and the cooler felt really stable once installed. whats the deal!?

Remove the cooler and reinstall with better paste should fix the problem. Then boot into BIOS and check temp to be sure they are good before going into windows.

Might be but check temps in BIOS to be sure that will tell more accurately what they at least at near idle conditions.

Why did you remove the TIM it came with? Isn't the Stuff they use of H50's, 60's and 70's meant to be pretty good?

Try re seating it, 66c Idle is a bit high, also like others have said, Get HWMonitor, Speedfan etc and boot to BIOS to see temps

thank you for the advice, HWMonitor has me idling in the 30's. Odd that Core Temp was so off!?

It isnt too bad I mounted my H50 for first time with included paste ansd got pretty good temps, however if you lifted the cooler up at all while installing it might have gotten some air bubbles in there. Would explain the temps could you take a pic when you remove it so we could see?

EDIT: phew that is good to know!

Might have to adjust the TJMAX/offset to what your CPU is might not be set right default. I get same issue with my E4500 and HWmonitor.
