Booting new pc for the first time; not turning on - Page 5

it does sound like a faulty psu then, have it checked at the store you bought it from,
could you take a picture of how you have everything set up in your mobo ? so we can see if everything is correctly plugged in.
and a speaker should have been supplied with your mobo or your case, its a small one you plug directly into the mobo near the power + and power -, reset and idle area.

Ok, I'll have the psu checked out tmr. I'll put up some pics here in a second. For the speaker thing, I do see the pin for the speaker on the mobo but nothing to plug into it from the wires in the case (I've got antec 1200 v3). I've got the reset, power, and HDD LED plugged in though.

Most motherboards have a speaker built into them. its usually a black cylinder with a hole in the top of it.....

I doubt this is it, since the paper clip makes the PSU semi-start, but most PSUs have an on/off switch on the back. Is it turned on? I don't know how many times I've forgotten to do that...

At first I did forget and when I plugged the paper clip in nothing happened... but then I turned it on and it did that. As for when it was in the pc, it still didn't work and it was on for sure (standby power light was on)

Ok guys, here are the pics... I tried my best, but all I got is this crappy built in camera on my blackberry... If there's a specific area you want me to take a picture of I'll try to get one. I couldn't get a good picture of the psu at all and I even tried taking it out of the case for it too...

PS: in the 2nd pic the molex is slightly ajar because it's a real pain to try to pull it out after sticking it in... so until there's a real fix I'm just going to leave it like that and bring it into the store

I just tried the paperclip thing to my old pentium 4, and it does look like it's supposed to stay on continuously. I don't know if it's supposed to be different per psu.

That 24-pin ATX power connector in the 2nd pic is supposed to be easy to plug in. Are you sure you didn't force it in backwards?

The side of the cable with a clip is supposed to fit into the side of the board with a plastic clip.

Alright, so I brought the pc into another room and did the paper clip thing again. This is what happened:

The psu fan and cpu fan still does not turn on. However, my computer case fans which are plugged into the psu via the peripherals/SATA molex light up and work. My graphics card fan works as well and gets power from the psu at the pcie molexes.
