AMD has "claimed" to take "precautionary" measures against the unlock.
In other words we don´t know if they are even going to do anything at this point.
The reason why some/most cards unlock and some don´t is not because AMD has already taken actions against it rather than that in production some cards were laser cut and others weren´t ..this however was not influenced by AMD but only random selection.
To be absolutey sure people should always ask there retailer when the 6950 arrived.
If the card arrived before the 15th of March you should be fine ...because that is 1 week from where the "claims" of AMD have been made.
Also 6950´s with an earlier date have all unlocked.
Don´t think AMD is so organized and professional^^
They just maid these claims in order to sound professional but I really doubt anything will happen.
AMD either wasn´t aware of what they were doing and have to justify themselves now or it is all a big marketing scam ...either way I don´t think anything will happen.
But just to be sure 15th March
6950 2GB Non-ref or not with a BIOS switch are basically all """save""" to unlock meaning there ability to unlock not there guarantee to operate normally
1 GB have some more unfunctional units so this is the only one bound to unlockinability.
Cheers hope I could help
