After you wipe the drive, reinstall the OS.

the only way to only have the OS on the drive is to do a complete wipe (which that program will do) then a fresh installation of the OS, so technically that is for you

DBAN then reinstall windows and format. If you have anything that is worth trying to recover after that it should have been encrypted really well in the first place.

if you have a copy of the os its the same as formating and reinstalling just writes zeros in each block so there is no data there vs being able to pull off w/e data was there before it gets over written

Are you saying that reinstalling the OS writes 0's in all the empty space?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, at least not with Windows.

Only if you do a long format instead of a quick format.

saying if he has a disk using a secure erase program after he formats would be no different then just formatting and reinstalling

Active Kill Disk is the way to go_ Just do the Zero single pass, that should efffectively remove all traces of any previous data.

Don't just delete partition and reformat because there are still ways to recover data =]
