update case/PSU/CPU-cooler - Page 2

Thread Starter
Oke, I may buy the case already tomorrow... biggrin.gif
(normally I wanted to do it in July or August, because then I worked a bit. But now I did have to go to work for 3 weeks already frown.gif ... [P.S. it’s just a job in the weekend ^^] )
I'm really horrible in waiting if I want something really bad!

But still doubting the PSU part... for the low cost the OCZ modxstream pro 600W, or a better? one like a Cooler Master Silent Pro M 600W.
For me money is a big player in this game...

(FAN's will probably upgrade later...)

Again thx for the info!!

I recommend the Corsair 650HX.
Unfortunately, the $20.00 rebate for it ended yesterday.
Still, an excellent PSU for the price. It comes with a 7 year warranty, which is a huge plus if you plan on sticking with it for a while.
Remember, as much as you might want to - don't skimp out on a power supply!

Yeah but I'm from Belgium so wont be buying from newegg... But thx for mentioning :-)!!
It's a nice powersupply but have to many SATA and 5.25" connections for me... I will not usen even half of those. So the ModXstream is then better for me due the less connections and also a lot cheaper ( I know it is modular, but I pay for cables I will probably never use...)
On the other hand... there more safetyfunctions on the other power suplies (corsair and the coolermaster) then on the OCZ one.

Will sleep over it tonight, or maybe will read more replies on my post ;-).

Oke... I bought the Corsair 600T biggrin.gif . Also the OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W... headscratch.gif
I know it wasn't the recommended PSU from you guys, but my wallet didn't allow another one.
I found out that the 8-pin power cable for my motherboard was too short. It is now in front of the my mobo, well yeah bummer... teaching.gif
Love the case cool.gifbiggrin.gif I will post pic's soon in the Official Graphite club!

The OC'ing isn't working yet frown.gif... I use this guide for i7 8XX but my PC doesn't start (bios said it's because I changed voltages... duh! ).
Or when I used a program from Gigabyte to OC (I know this isn't good, but doing it myself in bios isn't working either)
and then testing with LinX, I get a blue screen... doh.gif

Dont worry the Modxtream 600W is a reall good PSU for that kind of money, no its not a seasonic but it isnt a bad unit either.

I have sold alot of ModXtream PSU's and havent had 1 custumor brought it back yet smile.gif

When your overclocking first always start out with a lower RAM multiplier !!
with your ram start at 1600mhz and when you reach over 1800mhz downclock them some more.
When you want to overclock your cpu you need to take away other things that could stop you from doing that first.

set your ram at an IMC of 1.3V for now with 1.65V at the dimms. use timings like 9-9-9-27
Dont worry, after you done overclocking your cpu you can tweak the RAM.

Set cpu multi to about 20X
BLCK to 180
Vcore to 1.275V with LLC enabled
then you have 3,6ghz on cpu
The Vcore might seem much at first but this is an easy set-up wich will most likely run stable. Dont forget to keep RAM around 1600-1800mhz

If thats stable set cpu multi to 21x with a BLCK of 181mhz. this will give you a cpu at 3,8ghz

Try get this stable first and we can look further from there.

I didnt recommend 200mhz BLCK becuase even though its easier to overclock with that number it also gives you choices of only 1600, 2000 or 2400mhz on ram. 1600 beeing to low and 2000 and 2400 maybe to high for high cpu overclocks.

fast mem speeds with a high cpu speed needs alot of IMC and Core voltage and that give's alot of heat.

My ram works at 1860mhz in me 24/7 OC with an IMC voltage of 1.29V and 1.64V on the dimms. Cpu is at 3920mhz with 1.272 Vcore
i can go higher easy but it takes ALOT more Vcore and IMC to keep it stable and give's ALOT more heat. Working with 1600mhz RAM above a 4ghz cpu seems alot easier and cooler to run.

try me first few steps and work from there.

Hope you can get these settings to work though.

NOTE !!: Dont forget to turn of Intel Speedstep and EIST and so on, they really muck you up at high cpu OC's

Also keep in mind no same CPU clocks the same wink.gif

Oke Farih sorry for the super late reaction! Had a really busy time on my work placement!! Will post my results soon! I've already tested the 3.6GHz settings! and I think while testing with prime95 there was an error after 2 or 3 hours... will post the result here... so that's why I didn't proceed with the OC and also yeah busy time!
