Intel i7-950 3.06ghz 8mb quad core

It looks like a pretty powerful build, I only have three suggestions to make it a little faster for a little more $$$:
*use a P67/Core i5 2500K in stead of the i7 950. Usually i7s are faster than i5s, but the 950 is one generation behind and slower in some tasks (like gaming). While the 950 is faster in massive parallel tasks (of which there aren't many) it is slower in day to day apps. If it's P67 then a 2x4GB DDR3 kit is in order.
*the 6950 2GB may be a better option than the 570 1.28GB because of the Vram difference. 120Hz 1080p (2x 60Hz 1080p from the memory load perspective) can cut it a bit short on 1.28GB with high details. I'm not sure about AMD's 3D implementation if it's as good an Nvidia's though
*an SSD; they are so fast compared to a regular HDD you'll never look back. You can use it without the myriad of tweaks everyone it's talking about, it's not like you're gonna be limited by the "only" 10 years MTBF most SSD have. The Vertex2 is my pick with the Crucial C300 (or the M4) a close second and the Intel 320 in the third place.

*Bonus: it's my policy not to buy a huge PSU because they have low efficiency at low loads (thus heat/noise/etc). A big PSU will have a higher "low load" treshold where it becomes reasonably efficient (about 20%). Imho 1kW is enough for 3xSLI GTX570, for only one card 600W is more than enough. My take would go for a Seasonic or Corsair 600W high efficiency modular PSU which would also avoid cable clutter inside the case.

cheers

The question is tho is the 6950 and 6970 3D compatible and good at it? that is one the main features i was looking for and also i was looking to put more then one of these cards in thus the overly powerful PSU. it may be a few months but it seems pointless buying a small one for the time being.

My first time looking into a SSD for hard drive use, what are the major comparisons? is there anything i should know for when i get it to improve it or speed it up ?

Looks good!

I would get a SSD for my Operating system. And if you plan to overclock i would not get a intell board! You could get a smaller psu( i have a huge one but ,it has a long warrenty and i plan on putting it to use ,with high end graphics very soon)I have a similiar system and its is amazing/fast/and more power than i need ( at the moment)

Try to get the best read write/speeds you can afford. That will greatly improve your OS/and games.

I have really enjoyed mine!! Its really fast( UPGRADING FROM CORE DUO E7500) overclocked really easy, and has had no issues. I would recommend I7-950 personally. I got mine at micro center for $200 wich sweetened the deal even more!!

ENJOY.

I have both an i7 930 and an i5 2500k. I don't notice to much of a difference in games. Having said that I would go sandy bridge.

As far as 3D cards go.. stick with nvidia. Radeons require a monitor (or tv) that is 3D compatible on its own.
I don't even think that there are monitors that support 3D with proprietary glasses?
