But yeah, I miss Pluto being a planet. I mean, it has two moons dammit. We only have one. Doesn't make sense now does it?
Pluto is part of the Kuiper Belt of icy objects in the outer solar system. Pluto is smaller than our Moon. If you put it in orbit around our Planet it would grow a tail as it melted. "Now what kind of behaviour is that for a moon?"

Dear Nasa

You mom thought i was big enough

Sincerely, Pluto

Not a moon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3753_Cruithne

Quote:
Cruithne is in a normal elliptic orbit around the Sun. Its period of revolution around the Sun, approximately 364 days at present, is almost equal to that of the Earth. Because of this, Cruithne and Earth appear to "follow" each other in their paths around the Sun. This is why Cruithne is sometimes called "Earth's second moon".[2] However, it does not orbit the Earth and is not a moon.[7]

hmmm. interesting.

wonder if this applies to Charon

funny, though, because we still don't have very good pics of Pluto, at least 'till New Horizons reaches it...

Did you even listen to the words spoken in the video? Those asteroids were mentioned by name as so called "Moons" by the host.
Fail.

It's because everyone is so inclined to call a smaller body of mass orbiting a larger body of mass as a "moon".
