Defragging the hdd's is a good point however. Although I think anyone should do that (automatically) on a regular basis anyway.
Except when you've got a 2600k you can transcode at a LOT faster than 30FPS (hell, my 930 transcoded faster than that).

I think its completely invalid to say that SSDs are the biggest mistake people make in new rigs, at this point is practically a luxury.

Thats like why didn't honda put a dual cylinder clutchless manual in their civic LX... i mean cmon honda, it would shift faster... yea but its not going to make it go any faster and would cost an arm and a leg on an entry level car. Truth of the matter is not everyone is using their 5GHz 2600K to its max potential, were all just enthusiasts that like new tech.

Keep in mind this won't stop me from dropping a chunk of my tax return on a vertex 3 240GB =D
Lol! You are one of those that could have bought a 2500K + an SSD for the same price you payed for your 2600K, and had a whole different performing system!

I have an SSD and without a doubt I would never go back to running my OS from a standard hard drive.

To all the people saying "SSD's will become better soon", I feel sorry for you because even a slow SSD blows away what you have now. They are completely worth it in my opinion and should be included with any major upgrade.

When large SSD's are cheaper, I'm sure more people will buy them.

Few months ago, I bought my first HD video camera with no cassette tapes and no hard drive. it's very nice. But all videos are transferred to HDD's for storage. LOL

I have over 100 steam games and a 60gb SSD. I don't know anyone who would ever store all their games on an ssd yet, or would even want to, because the games that benefit from it aren't that many in number. Most multiplayer games, if you load fast, you're still waiting for the others to load. I keep my OS and WoW on my SSD and all my other games on a 5400 rpm 2tb green drive. OS performance is completely unparalled.

And you people are talking about the cost of an SSD VS harddrives. This is not the point. You use cheap harddrives in addition to your super fast SSD's. A 80GB Intel SSD for OS programs and games are not that expensive. If you can afford expensive CPU's, graphics cards, mem and motherboard, you sure as hell can spend a few dollars on a SSD that will really make your systems perform as they should!

The ssd makes windows faster but if i had to get rid of my ssd i would take a new graphics card over an ssd.

Wait for windows to load and max every game

or load quick and play games on medium

i know which one i would go for

I think ssd's are a tad over rated they are good but i want a 1TB ssd lol.

I completely understand, I have an 80GB SSD just for STEAM. All FPS games are on the SSD and all MMOs are in the raptors RAID 0...I need that load time between zones to scratch myself.

Most would say the only thing that should reside on your C:\\ is your OS.

Hell I am one of those junkies who had a spare 8GB HDD for my cache and Swap file just to free up the heads on my OS drive to process requests.

300GB of steam games...Reinstalling windows must really suck for you.

I mean just imagine how long it would take to reinstall all those games, cuz you cannot install multiple games while still playing others in steam.

lol WoW on a SSD 30GB of space...GONE!
