Exactly, my internet speed is going to bottleneck my hard drive regardless, which is why it would make less than a 1% difference to my PPD. And I'm only allowing for the minute, negligible increase in performance so it isn't pointed out

I had a Callisto Deluxe in my old rig, I cant say I really miss having it either.

I agree that for most people the price/benefit isn't there for a large drive to store games on just to increase loading times, I am one of them.
I do however have a small SSD for OS and the difference it made it fantastic. The generally snappiness of operation is something that you will enjoy every time you use your computer and I personally think that most people would get more enjoyment out of it then they would a few extra fps.

I have a big problem with this:

If you were talking from experience I think you would have said so I'm to assume you aren't. If that is the case then I'm pretty surprised at the low quality of the post from such a well known poster.

.

A decent RAID 0 achieves the same thing. So just anything beyond a single HDD is beneficial to loading times.

So I guess if you have $$ amount and care/want File Space amount can help decide to either do a Raid or go SSD.

Actually, talked to a Cable TV/Broadband guy the other day. He actually told me that people with old computers/slow harddrives was bottlenecking their internet connection speed So they did not get the line/speed they were supposed too !

I have Never had to Reformat lol.. If a drive dies I have mirror images of everything on backup drives should it happen..so I just plug a new drive in.

It's not a matter of how often I play any of the games at all and is all about Convenience. If I want to go down memory lane I do not have to go digging through everything to find the one I want to use or play. It's as simple as that.

But Yeah it is alot of games but at the Same time I am A Gamer and Have been for a Very long time starting back on an Atari

Never said the Games didn't cost Money.. and In Fact cost a lot of Money. But the Majority of them have been purchased before this Whole SSD craze and have been purchased over the Years.. It's not Like I just bought them in one lump sum.. I am 31 years old and Have been Gaming Long before many Members on OCN were even Born so don't roll Your eyes at Me as You know nothing about Me

Yes SSD's are fast and there is No denying that fact.. But For Me I cannot Justify the cost of Purchase for the piddly amount of space that I "Choose" to need.. I have Many Other things in life that take Priority of My Computer despite My Passion for them. My Kids and Wife come first ALWAYS.. after that I have Other hobbies such as Racing Snowmobiles, My Late Model Modified (racing car if You don't know what that is), I Own a Piper Cub airplane and many other things that I enjoy alot more.

Either way For those with SSD's enjoy them as they are indeed very nice

99% of them

and the others that would see some more marginal benefit for
dollar spent into another category.... (like what? you can be in WoW
instances before anybody else and wait for everyone anyways?)

Well excuse me for not running a tape drive as my OS boot drive
So by your logic I can go find the world's worst SSD and a good HDD and if the HDD wins it's the better choice. I would literally have to go out of my way to find a normal HDD crap enough to bottleneck my internet speed...

Edit: what I mean is if I connect a 4GB CF card to my pc with a CF to IDE converter then it's going to suck out loud. That doesn't say anything about solid state memory as a whole.
