He might. If he uses PS to put food on the table then the faster he can open it, the faster he can get work done. This adds up over time. I think many of you don't realize that a computer is used for more than gaming. Some of us make our livings using them.

I'm not being stubborn, I've acknowledged that SSDs are useful if your applications benefit from them. His statement was that ALL SSDs beat any HDD. My hypothetical drive is still an SSD. Obviously it wouldn't make sense but it still invalidates the statement. Solid State Drive implies a drive using solid state memory so that drive fits. It's not supposed to actually be viable

Read it again. I already acknowledged that, I just said the OP doesn't listen to things like folding rigs not needing an SSD or anything that is opposed to his own way of thinking.

I do not have a sandy bridge, but right now I don't care waiting a few more secs instead of buying a 60GB SSD for like ~100 which to me is not worth it at the moment. I have 200GB of just steam games almost so besides the OS and all the Applications I have I will be able to have only a few games in the faster HDD.

I'm not saying I don't like SSD drives, it is just that they are way too expensive for a cheap guy like me. I might get one when they are 1 doller per Gigabyte. But my idea price for a 60GB drive would be $40 so I guess I'll have to wait quite a few months and maybe years

It was recently shown the average office worker spends wastes 1 hr of the day waiting on things to load. SSD would solve this and why SSD's are starting to move more into the office.

LOL tell that to people who go from an i7 920 or 950 to sandybridge! how much does that cost yet lots of ppl do it.

Now that is pointless!

Go from a hdd to an ssd now we are really talking factual sence as a hdd cannot compete with a ssd in anyway other than price, But if you are spending over $800 on a performance rig surely you want the best for a few $ more for a 40-60gb ssd boot drive.

Why the heck did I read these last 5 pages of posts(100postsperpage) with nothing but bickering and bad arguments?

I could have spent that time on Newegg picking up an SSD

You really need to get on a system using an SSD. You will be amnazed at how everything is faster. And sure you can say that it doesn't get me more folding pojts or a higher FPS, but the overall experience is astounding. It actually made me want to use my computer more (if that is possible).

Anyone who considers themselves a computer enthusiast owes it to themselves to at least try an SSD. If you don't like it, you can easily sell it here or on Ebay. But for those who do not even want to try, I guess that ignorance is bliss.

Thanks for the clarification. Those few seconds really do make a difference, and not just because it gets me back to my family 10 minutes earlier at the end of the day. It's because when you have the creative juices flowing, you don't want to be distracted by the PS loading screen, or anything else that takes any amount of time.
