Hence the poll!
This kind of talk is exactly why you're getting so many responses that you consider to be "ridiculous". It's because you're the one who is being ridiculous. Why all the hate? Anyone who doesnt get an SSD in their new system is "insane", huh? Way to piss off a lot of people who actually have more than one or two hundred GB of data, and don't have unlimited budgets...
To some people, certain things are just more important than others. One person might prefer a better video card, or they might want more RAM or storage space. That's because we all have difference preferences, different needs, and different opinions (oh, and some people have budgets, too. Even enthusiasts). Believe it or not, but your opinion is not
superior to anyone else's in this forum.
Please, tell me, what if you happen to use applications where raw GPU performance is more important than disk performance? What if it's more important for someone to have 16GB of low-CAS RAM than an SSD, because they often work with software that involves large amounts of processing data in memory? Oh, sorry, I will shut up, since I am clearly not being "logical", there is no way that anyone would need that, especially because it goes against your opinions...
I have over 750GB of data here, and the majority of my work is done on my 1TB 7200RPM HD. Like I said in my previous post, I can load a 500MB PSD in just a few seconds. But, I know, I must have been an absolute moron to think that this was acceptable... because with an SSD it would load in 1.5 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds. And, I really, really hate having to wait 2 or 3 seconds for loading screens in Shogun 2, it is so frustrating.
Anyway. I wish you'd step down from your high horse, and stop calling everyone who prefers/needs/can't afford anything other than an HDD "insane" or a "hater". I know I could have been quite a bit more friendly in this post... but your attitude just didn't deserve it. Sorry.
(oh, and by the way, I have an SSD. It works for me, but it isn't the best choice for *everyone*)
