i unscrewed the back, but have not taken it out yet, but, i know it is a cooler master rp-600-pcar here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171013

i am still going to take it apart and take pictures of it(when my dad wakes up), for all of you, especially Phaedrus, but at the same time, you can find pictures of the insides online..... here:
http://hi-techreviews.com/reviews_20...ower600/P3.htm

but now i know what it is, and i have to wonder no more, mystery solved, and it turned out quite BORING sorry guys

oh, and this explains why my graphics card isn't working: only one pcie connector plugged into an 8800 gtx!

yeah, it has 2 adapters that are 2 molex(peripheral) to 2 pcie, so.... basically the shop that sold it to us was using it to tri sli gtx 8800s and when they sold it to us they took out one 8800 gtx, and now there is only one left... as the second one died.... do you guys think the second one died because of the power supply? do you think it is enough to power the 1 gtx 8800 that is left? oh and do you guys still want pictures of the inside?

Hrm, let's see the insides first. If the psu has blown caps or obvious internal damage, then to the trash it shall go. Assuming it's ok, then it should be alright for a single 8800 for a while.

well.... i wish i took pictures of the inside when i had the chance because now that everyone is up, it's the same story, "why did you take it apart when i was sleeping?!", "no you can't take it apart now, i am awake and useing it!", "do it tomorrow!", but there obvious signs of that that kind of damage from the outside, so i think that is why the 800gtx will no longer play games

Obvious signs of damage on the outside? Don't bother then. Unless you want to show us pics of the destruction inside of course. Tell your dad that the PSU is dying, and if he's not careful, it will take the rest of the machine with it. Replace it now.

he keeps saying "next week" then that turns into another week, then another.... he LOVES to put things off..... he's been putting this off for a year! that's how long there have been obvious signs! i have told him that it is dying, over and over again! he says "it runs just fine for me" i tell him that if the psu gets any more damaged that it will take out the whole computer, he says "you are over reacting, it is just a little scorched"

edit: i will still post pics of the iside tomorrow, around 3:00 EST +/- 1-2 hrs
