Is portal 2 graphics intensive? - Page 2

Unless you are depending on an older release for crossfire performance there is no reason to not upgrade your driver. People tend to blow the whole AMD/ATI driver thing out of proportion. Download the latest driver package. Uninstall the old drivers with the AMD driver uninstall utility and install the new driver.

Well i still think it's not the drivers. Must be the limit of the MSAA and the view distance.. I.E i guess it's the limit of the card

I don't even do that. I just install over since I haven't changed cards on this machine. Haven't had a single issue with it.

This. I've had no problems with 11.3 and 11.4. One of the recent drivers increased my Metro FPS by about 5 FPS I think.

Just use the latest drivers. You should be able to max it out with 60 fps easy, I do. It's less demanding than left 4 dead 2.

It's nowhere near demanding, I got an average of 100fps with highest settings and 4xAA. Great visuals though.

Seriously. You're going to complain about choppiness but aren't willing to take the steps toward fixing it. Christ.

Like I said, I have the very same card, latest drivers, and I have maxed EVERYTHING. AA, textures, everything, and I haven't noticed any choppiness at all anywhere in the game. It runs buttery smooth.

Very true, I love the style with the screens in those elevator rooms. Goes to show you that style is more important than texture resolution. Although I always want perfect textures, ha.
