Agreed! I'm the kind of guy to opt for texture resolution over visual effects because it makes a game look cleaner and more life-like IMO. There's nothing as annoying as zooming into something or looking very closely at something in a game only to lose all sense of reality because you see a horrible low-res pixelated texture.

I had issues with stuttering. I had to use radeon pro and the fear profile before that I was only getting like 30% gpu usage each. Also had it disable aero and give max CPU priority. It only seems to use 1 core very much.

Now I get 60 fps with all ccc and game settings at the max.

I have a 5830 on the newest drivers... And it's fine..

It's a Source game. Even I can max it out.

Are you effing kidding me? i didn't even see that in his sig.

So, OP, you buy a 250 dollar card but fail to spend 70 bucks on a decent set of RAM? Drivers aren't your only issue here then.

Widnows 7 will take up about 1GB of RAM just running, add in background processes and tasks, on top of that add in the game, you're bottlencking your system.

Cool t hat means I should be able to run it

Like I said, I have the very same card, latest drivers, and I have maxed EVERYTHING. AA, textures, everything, and I haven't noticed any choppiness at all anywhere in the game. It runs buttery smooth.

How about his ram?

Haha very true but I think his issues would be more random stuttering than an fps drop if it were ram. And I also don't blame him for not wanting new drivers, I couldn't leave my chair until I beat the game... ITS SO GOOOOOD
