Buying a Sound Card

Thread Starter

I have on-board right now and I decided to get a sound cad since I think im missing out playing games on a on-board sound card.

I have P5E deluxe Mobo and only 570gtx so I have free slots.

I was thinking about gettting this sound card

but i am open to other suggestions since I have been reading creative has terrible drivers and customer support. I am primarily a gamer and use a headset.

What output devices are you using for playback, i.e. headphone/speakers? Whats your budget? Are you needing a PCI, PCI-E, or a DAC?

ASUS Xonar DX.

If you're doing just gaming, the card you linked is overkill. The DX will work well.

What is your total budget for headphones and sound card combine? I would highly suggest picking something other than Corsair. As much as I like their products, they are not an audio company.

You can buy my A700's for $85 shipped since we are on the subject of buying used. The A700's are way above the Corsairs in quality.

I actually just posted them in the "For Sale" section.

I read the HARDOCP review and was convinced and a few other ones. Best headset so far the reviews say. Head set I would go 90$, must have a good mic since I game.
