Not seeing any overclocks at all - Page 3

EDIT: I tested the memory from my new rig in an old rig, and it worked flawlessly. So, it isn't the memory. Given that I could beat up on my CPU in Prime95, and I've checked every other component, it has to be the mobo. Too bad, I wanted to like ASRock.

EDIT 2: RMAing it now.
One other thing I read said that the Error 45 might be related to a bad memory controller on the CPU. After you get your new board in, post back here so we can know if you had success.

I just got my new board in, seated everything, and guess what? I still got error 45 codes. So, I'm RMAing the CPU.

So, I got the new CPU in, and guess what? I still get the same error 45 code. Also, I finished installing MOH Multiplayer from Steam, and it crashes my entire system whenever I quit the game, or even try to load a level.

I have a question that maybe we haven't covered. This relates to an issue that has been seen on some vendors boards and running Gskill memory in the XMS profile. Are you trying to run with the XMS profile enabled?

I am just trying to cover bases that we might not have covered. Are you hearing any BIOS beeps?

Also, what happens if you go to the BIOS and choose Load Optimized Defaults?

I was indeed trying to run it with the XMS profile, but I got the same bugs without it enabled. I am not getting any bios beeps, except when Win 7 starts to load. I'm going to try to load the optimized defaults now.

EDIT:

Yup, it still does it.

Okay. Hrmph. I was next going to suggest that you try one RAM card in DIMM1, then DIMM2, then DIMM3, then DIMM4, but I reread the thread and you used the RAM in a different rig AND this is a new MoBo and CPU....

That leaves the Drivers, BIOS, GPU, and PSU, really.

Have we checked all the connections where the PSU connectors are plugged into the board? I know that my RAM uses about 120W at full load. Maybe the 8pin ATX connector isn't seated or the 24pin?

Are you using the lastest BIOS? I know that for MSI, the latest BIOS resolved the XMP problems for Gskill.

Are all your Drivers installed and up to date, or did you image this system?

Finally, have you tried it with just one GPU in?

I admit, that, at this point, I am really just stabbing in the dark.

I have indeed tried it with 1 and 2 GPUs in, since I can't see the debug thing with 2 GPUs in. I have seated the PSU connectors multiple times, since this problem has persisted across multiple motherboards. I kept the drivers from the ASRock P67 Extreme 6 for the ASRock P67 Fatal1ty pro, but then again they are essentially the same board and I had the same problem beforehand, and no new ones have cropped up.

Thanks for your help, but it seems that I just have one of those problems that nobody can figure out, and will never go away. I'll just have to be happy at stock speeds on the 2600k, which isn't bad.

I agree that the 2600K kicks butt, but you bought the K to overclock it. If I read your last post correctly, you are saying that this PSU is the same one that you used on other Mobos, before you bought the AsRock P67, and that you had problems overclocking on them too? Do you have a PSU around the house that you can swap in and try?

I just can't give up once I have a bone in my teeth.

Actually, it's a new PSU. I got a new Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000W PSU for this build. I don't really have any other PSUs that I could just swap in, unfortunately.
