Need help setting wireless up!

Thread Starter
So guys i'm having some trouble setting up a friends internet. Been on the phone with her for 2 hours trying to get it setup, She lives in new york i'm in toronto. Anyway she bought a linksys WRT120N i believe it is. and she has time warner cable. Everytime she tried to use the setup CD she got this screen:

So i said let's set it up manually. everytime she tried to enter 192.168.1.1 it would just do a google search. got her to unplug all cables excpet one going from router "internet" port to the PC and she got in, walked her through the setup. she plugged all the cables back in and now the wireless says no internet connection.

I'm not familiar with time warner, but she said the modem has 2 cables ethernet and a usb.
She shes the wireless network created but theres no internet access
please help lol

I don't think it is a problem with Time Warner, but setting up the router itself. Are you trying to get wireless access by using the WPA or MAC address? Is the router broadcasting so you can see the router detected in the computer?

Not to sound dumb, but is she plugging in the cables correctly to the router and all other?

So you are saying it's Cable Modem > Router Internet IN > router port to computer right?

When she plugs the cable from the computer to the router it need's to go to one of the 1234 ports not the internet "ethernet" port for the 192.168.1.1 to work.

and also dont use the disk all it does is intall programmes on the computer thats not needed

WAN -> Modem -> (WAN PORT) Wireless router -> (LAN PORTS) Clients.

It honestly should just work out of the box. If they had a previous router or PC hooked right up to the modem itself, use MAC cloning on the new router in order to circumvent any sort of potential DHCP timeout.
