Personally, I don't know what everyone has against me.

I have no problem with google knowing what kind of sites and products I look at so it can show me ads based on that stuff, infact I prefer it. Its must better than seeing a bunch of random ads that have nothing to do with me.

And its not like "do not track" removes ads, it just makes them less relevant.

Do not track is something that appeals to the ignorant, using they old "advertisers are bad" mental attitude to sell a feature to users that hurts the internet's functionality as a whole.

I hope google does not ever have this feature.
+1

Think about it folks... if ad revenue per impression drops, then websites like OCN will have to use MORE ads to keep the servers running. I don't think anyone wants to see more ads, especially more ads that are completely irrelevant to one's interests.

And to anyone who uses adblock - thanks a lot, leechers. Go find a different website to consume bandwidth on while not supporting, mkay?

This.

And when it comes to the Feds, pandering to the simplest of people is SOP.

While they don't have a 'do not track option' Chrome allows you to control data.

Go under Settings > Under the hood > content settings

and select
"block sites from setting data"
and check
"Ignore exceptions and block third-party cookies from being set"

Ta-da.

No DNT? No download. That simple. I hate ads so every way I can spite the people who make them the better my browsing experience.

If tracking my general geographical location means more accurate advertising that might relate to my interests rather than annoying random Ford/Toyota/Credit Report/etc. ads, track me all you want. It's 2011 I'm in full support of most of what's going on with the internet. We watch less TV, listen to less radio, and visit less TV sites (NBC, ABC, etc.) so we have to expect SOME new methods of advertising to come out.
I, for one, don't want to be spammed and inundated with advertisements for junk I never wanted, never will want, never would buy even if I did wanted it, and DO NOT BLOODY WANT!

GET. OFF. MY. WEB. BROWSER!

I love Ad Block Plus. It's my way of giving advertisers the finger. Do Not Track will just be kicking them in the balls afterward, all the better if you ask me.

No, it's your way of giving OCN the finger, and kicking OCN in the balls.

I have ad-block, but exclude sites that I support, like OCN (or your Minecraft forum, Spike).
