There's a way to do proper horror in the RE vein without cumbersome control.
Resident Evil 4, and even 5, don't exactly have the easiest controls either.
Classics might've been tanks, but that just makes the new games boats then.
It wouldn't be a huge mistake at all, as long as the environments and pace match.
The only reason you say that it wouldn't work is because RE4 and 5 have twice the pace and sheer size
of the originals. The originals all took place in enclosed, tight, relatively small corridors even when on streets. Re4 and 5 are out in the open, and with enemies that aren't just moping around all the time. Of course it wouldn't work, but that's also part of the problem too.
Look into RE:Revelations. It combines the best of both classic and new controls, environments, and even enemies. Looks pretty sick.Edited by OmegaNemesis28 - 4/20/11 at 10:08pm
